Rapid injection molding is the best choice for on-demand production, bridge tooling, pilot runs, and functional prototyping, among other applications.  Injection molding can be accomplished using a variety of materials, with aluminum being one of the most popular for molds.



If you want to validate your design, you should probably start there.  If you want flexible, on-demand production of end-use parts, you should probably start there as well.  The answer will aid in determining which injection molding option is the most effective for your application.



After that, think about numbers, such as how many parts are required.  From as few as 10 parts to more than 10 million parts can be produced using this technology.  Moldplasticinjection is primarily concerned with the range of 10 to a little more than 10,000 parts per minute.  Also consider whether you will require part production for a period of more than a year in the future.



Prototyping costs less money than production costs in the vast majority of cases.  Prototyping, on the other hand, may result in a higher part cost.  Generally speaking, the greater the number of parts produced, the lower the overall cost is typically.

Plastic injection molding is a type of molding in which plastic is injected into another material.

The overmolding and insert molding processes are the third processes in the moldplasticinjection system.



The term refers to two-part injection molding processes in which one material is overlaid onto a second substrate part or metal insert to create a single multi-material component. 15 days are required for the completion of custom prototypes and on-demand production parts.



Overmolding begins with the production of the substrate parts, which is accomplished using a standard injection molding process that does not require the use of any heating or cooling lines that run through the molding machine.  Molders keep an eye on fill pressure, cosmetic concerns, and the overall quality of the parts they are producing.



After the entire run of substrate parts has been molded, the overmold tooling is assembled and mounted to the press. . The substrate parts are manually placed into a mold, where they are overmolded with either a thermoplastic or a liquid silicone rubber material, depending on the material used.



It is comparable to overmolding in that it makes use of a preformed part; however, insert molding is more cost effective.  Typically, metal is used for this preformed component.  Afterwards, it is loaded into a mold, where it is overmolded with plastic to form a final component.



Several important design considerations must be taken into consideration when creating a mold for success.
